Description

From: Jirka

ACPI 3.11:

? Can you boot ACPI 3.11 standard with: /SMP /APIC /CD

System hangs directly after the boot logo. ALT+F2 does not show any driver.

/SMP /PIC /CD traps directly after the boot logo.

/SMP /PIC /CD /SAP:0x20 boots ok. But no throttling/suspend.

With all testcase ACPI drivers after standard 3.11 I can boot without /SAP:0x20

ACPI 3.???:

With /APIC boot hangs at kbdbase.sys.

After some testing I can boot with /SMP /PIC /EIS /R /FS. The system runs stable and all is working, except throttling an suspend.

What is boot with acpi.psd /SMP /PIC only?

System boots with /SMP /PIC /EIS without /EIS system hangs at boot logo without driver messages, CAD didn't work system does not enter suspend, screen goes black and the system hangs, CAD didn't work

try restore original vpic.sys? Then try use /SMP /APIC /EIS, you can add /R if you have with CAD.

Throttling:

Need boot. Run SetGetState? 0 50, then copy acpica$ acpi.log and attach log here

comment:5 Changed 15 years ago by pasha

Sorry

SetGetThrtl? 0 50

Where can I find the original vpic.sys?

Throttling:

Need boot. Run SetGetState? 0 50, then copy acpica$ acpi.log and attach log here

C:\ecs\bin>SetGetThrtl?.exe 0 50 Trottling set error rc=65283

C:\ecs\bin>copy acpica$ acpi.log The system cannot open the device or file specified.

0 file(s) copied.

What's going wrong?

/SMP /APIC hangs at kbdbase

But now I can boot without /FS! /SMP /PIC /EIS /R works!

Log files with and without /FS

Throttling doesn't work.

with /FS

without /FS

If you can boot w/o /FS - you don't need in it. Throttling, check pls in acpid.cfg , that MaxThrl? and MinThrl? = 0. If you want /APIC, remove os2logo from root dir, then try boot and attach photo of screen

Checked => ok but:

C:\ecs\bin>SetGetThrtl?.exe 0 50 Trottling set error rc=65283

If you want /APIC, remove os2logo from root dir, then try boot and >attach photo of screen

see APIC.jpg.

Throttling is not support in your computer now, try change BIOS setup and look to log:

* Throttl Width 0 Offset 1

Width must be non zero

About /APIC, try reboot 3-5 times. Here is chance, that it can boot. If boot, create log and attach here.

I tested all possible BIOS settings, no luck.

I get it booting in APIC mode, see attached logs. I had to change the IDE controller mode from AHCI to compatible. But HDD performance is very bad with high CPU usage. With AHCI IDE controller mode boot hangs at kbdbase.sys. In PIC mode the system boots with AHCI and HDD performance is very good.
