Sometimes Openfire crashes when a client connects. Logs with dumps sent to your ftp.

When running VPC and starting SmartSynchronize? with -Xmx400m and above, all sort of weird system crashes happen on SMP machine.

On single core Thinkpad never crashes even with VPC running. Starting with -Xmx450m only java app start hangs which can be killed with CTRL-C. No crash.

I installed IcedTeaWeb? and visited ​http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp to test the plugin.

The webpage reported:-

I closed the browser and retried.

On this attempt the browser hung then crashed before I could kill it with TOP.

I also found I could not restart the browser until the system had been rebooted.

Running the java-applet inside firefox does not work. ​https://as.photoprintit.com/web/85001320/startClient.do?client=java&type=print&pmId=default blocks firefox with a message, that a javascript is not responding.

Don't know, if it is related to java, javascript or icedtea-web

I have installed java-160GA5 WITH ODIN 089 but I was unable to use Facebook because I receive this window message:

Failed to load Flash Win32 plugin

after that messages the page of Firefox became empty and unusable. I have to kill it and restart.

I can not find the Java Web Start Function in the current built.

Do I miss something :-)

I tried KRUT, a java-based screen recorder with openjkd6 and it opens fine, but is waiting for something... and never come in function. Image of cmd-window (and java-windows) attached. Is it possible to make this work?

as it's fixed by the dev, i close that bug. we don't have the time to look at all stuff and are glad devs also fix their app.

If we're going this way it will be over sooner than later. Its a bug in our OpenJDK and it should be fixed. There are more programs which have same behavior, but I didn't report it because its the same problem. So its not only JGraphite and not all developers are so kind to fix something for just OS/2-eCS.

Crash occurs with GA2 & GA3 under Odin 0.8.5, which is why I opened the ticket under Odin. However, there may be some interaction we just weren't seeing before.

Native printer selection dialog opens fine. Printer selected, and as soon as data is sent (printer does eject a blank page), the application exits.

Output from a FTP server application. I have full source and it runs on all other versions of Java. At first there is some output but is soon stops with this: Login : greg 71.246.225.60 20120927 205045 SYS1808: The process has stopped. The software diagnostic code (exception code) is 009F.

In the Java distributions of Innotek and the unofficial 1.5 versions I can find in the bin directory the file jpeg.dll. However in all 1.6 releases this file is called jjpeg.dll, is this by accident or on purpose? Or are we talking about total different things? Because some packages can't save jpeg files with version 1.6(Ga,GA2,GA3) and can with the Innotek 1.42something. So I suspect that those packages are looking for the jpeg.dll and can't find that name in the bin directory with the result that nothing happens, in one case I got filenames but with 0 bytes. If its just renaming the file this could be solved very quick without lots of developer time.

If an AWT program shows this dialog, it can't be dismissed and directory navigation doesn't actually work. The details and an example are here: ​http://svn.netlabs.org/odin32/ticket/93.

Currently the java.awt.TextArea? class is not functioning. Just a black area which is never repainted and gets filled with garbage after some time.

I am using gmail in thunderbird, but some times at webpages. i have discoveres there is a "DRIVE" in google, so files can be uploades there.. the problem is JAVA is not detected with Iceteaweb pluging, so no automatic upload of files can me achived.

More and more programs are now only for Java 7 (1.7) and don't support Java 6 (1.6) anymore. Next GA should be version 7.

Starts without error but crashes after a few seconds. Java GA3 with HOTFIX_GA3_1-20120807 applied. See attached dump.

Seems like all output from running java.exe from CMD goes to stderr. All OS/2 apps have always sent output to stdout, and that is what all OS/2 tools expect.

Previous Java versions did the same !

We need Java6 to have OS/2 personality, as all other OS/2 apps - and all previous JAVA versions.

Sometimes the Java process hangs in the exit list on thread 1 when terminating the Java application by sending it a Ctrl-C signal.

This is rare and therefore it's easier to catch it when using the debug build of Odin/Java?. In either case it's not nice and needs to be fixed.

Any hint to make it work will be appreciated.

Java includes a dependence on ​ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/gcc4core.wpi. This can result in multiple installs of these DLLs, wasted bandwidth downloading them yet again for very little benefit. Simple solution is to set GCCOPT='-static-libgcc' This will statically link the couple of small functions that may be needed.

Testing JDownloader V0.9.334 crashes on startup with the GA3 + Odin 0.8.5 build, going back to B24/Odin 0.8.4 resolves the issue. There are 2 entries in popuplog and a log file from java.

Jeti/2 still crashes on startup. Problem started with the GCC builds of Odin. I have now tested every F***** setting of Jeti/2 to see if any of those can be the difference between our tests.

Well, at the buttom (of course), the setting 'XMPP' seems to be the one causing the problem. When I turn it off, Jeti/2 can start again.

This setting have always been on here - and gives no problems with Java 1.41, Java 1.42 or Java 1.5 - and also worked with VAC builds of ODIN.

Having installed icedtea and glib packages and added path to openjdk\bin to the Path I rebooted.

I then started Seamonkey and checked that about:plugins and also the Addons Manager both show the icedtea plugin. I then visited ​http://javatester.org/version.html and ​http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

Neither of the above java test websites report java installed and working. I must admit that I have not tried this plugin on any other website - if you want to provide a couple of urls I'll happily test to see if the plugin works on those sites.

I'm not sure if you can do something with it, but its a report from JAlbum 9.5. I'm running eCS 1.2Dutch, available memory 1Gb. Enclosed the error file. It looks like its running okay, but at start all is upside down, starting something else will correct this. I'm not sure if this is with this Java version or with JAlbum, its since 9.4.1. So I'm more on the side of JAlbum for this, but the developer from JAbum says otherwise.

The Java plugin uses java.nio.channels.FileChannel?.lock() to serialize access to property files (used mostly for storing cache data) between several plugin instances (represented by separate processes) to make sure the file update operation is atomic in that context.

However, the behavior of locks differs between platforms. In particular, on Windows and on OS/2 the file lock is strictly bound to the file handle. This means that if you open the locked file again and get a new handle for it, the new handle will not inherit the lock and accessing the file through this new handle may fail if the lock condition is violated -- even if the second open happens in the same process.

Since the plugin code uses different handles to lock the property files and to read/write to them, this causes permanent lock violations and prevents these files from being properly updated on OS/2. I guess that on Linux file locks are not bound to file descriptors but rather to the file name and that's why it works. (Windows is not a question here since the plugin is not made to be used on Windows where Oracle provides its own binary distributions).

This needs to be addressed and fixed.

On the other side, it works fine with Java 1.4.

Running the 14-1.1 of the JavaRDP (same issue seen with 16-1.1), minimizing the remote desktop window causes CPU hog (99.9%). Using Xpager and switching to a different virtual desktop does not cause the issue, however, and is a workaround for some people.

MP3 Automagi CD Cover Creator 1.4 hangs trying to connect to a dead site. Breaking the Internet connection (literally, removing the Ethernet wire from the machine) allows it to continue. <​http://pipasoft.com/maccc/download/maccc.1.4.zip>

ssh sessions (OpenSSH_5.3p1) just won't start with java6. No error messages. There is no problem with java 1.4.2_09. What connection is there between ssh and java, anyway?

Once OpenJDK has got an RPM, we should make it depending on the Liberation fonts. See #39 for more info.

Installed Odin 0.8.4 using YUM and copied new Java into \Programs\Java6. REM'd out 'SET CLASSPATH', 'SET JAVA_HOME', and SET JAVA_HIGH_MEM' lines in CONFIG.SYS. Also changed the JAVA142 entry in 'SET PATH' to JAVA6.

TCP/IP configuration app starts up fine and shuts down fine if I make no change. If I make any change, then when it goes to write the change during shutdown, the app hangs with a dialog saying 'saving' and cannot be closed or killed. I have to reboot to clear the dialog. The change is not made.

Run into problem with JAlbum, solved it more or less with try and error, however when this kind of error is given than NOTHING works anymore including starting programs from the WPS!! You have to reboot. After that got it working after dropping the -Xmx(a number)M.

The installer only seems to check the warpin database. I have odin installed with yum/rpm. Installing first odin with warpin (without modifying config.sys), then java, then removing the warpin odin again allows me to install java.

With java 1.6 b22 GA when using TCP/IC accept waiting for socket connections. If the connecting sockets are broken too many times a crash of java happens.

Java never starts VM execution on the main thread of the process. It instead fires off a new thread (right after performing basic parsing of command line arguments) and starts the VM there. The main thread then waits indefinitely for this new thread to terminate and once terminated, it returns from main().

This has one strange effect. Java uses many additional DLLs for implementing native methods and for providing utility functions and these DLLs often use C++ classes. These classes have static objects that get created at program startup and destroyed at program termination. These objects sometimes use various JVM calls.

The thing is that the destruction of static objects always happens on the main thread, after all other threads of the process have been stopped (at least this is the case for VAC/GCC on OS/2 where such destruction either takes place at DLL termination time (GCC) or during DosExitList? processing (VAC)).

So, in case of static objects in helper Java DLLs, their destruction happens after the JVM has been exited and therefore calling it will simply crash (becaus most internal structures have been destroyed by the exit routine).

This in particular happens with AWT native methods which are implemented with the help of C++ classes on Windows (and therefore on OS/2). A particular example is the static GDIHashable AwtPen::cache object (see awt_Pen.cpp). Upon destruction, it frees memory and in the debug build the free routine collects some extra information and uses the JVM monitor primitive to serialize access to its internal structures containing this information. But this primitive may not function when JVM is shut down and therefore the application crashes.

SmartGIT 2.0.4 cannot recognize the contents of the local repository. For a newly created one (git init) it will show the "unknown" status.

For an existing repository it will list its files but almost all will be shown as 'modified' while there are actually no modifications at all.

Since b24 (or maybe b23), the hotspot sources include a special restricted version of the Java launcher (gamma launcher) used, as the sources say, for internal testing purposes.

Here is the main launcher file, source:/trunk/openjdk/hotspot/src/share/tools/launcher/java.c. There is also a bunch of platform-specific sources.

We don't need this launcher ATM so I will exclude it from the build process for now. Once and if we need it, our changes from the Windows version of the normal launcher may be transferred to this one.

I am writing a file manager and testing in Windows and eCS. will continue testing.

Today i had some spare time so i try to run the version 10 of IntelliJ Idea with the latest beta build.

After 'migrating' the startup script the monster starts and ask for migration of settings from a last version. Because i had no old version i start without migration.

This produces an endless loop and a big log file. The entries are always the same:

Looks like a problem creating the directory with the dot in the path name. So i create the subdirectory ".IdeaIC10" and nothing more. Restarting the monster works much better. Idea creates the files in the subdirectory of this.

So my guess is that there is a problem with creating directories with a dot in the name.

(Will try to find the place in the source but this needs some time.)

Using 1.6.0-b22 GA, I am unable to get splash images (png, jpg, or gif) to display, using either method described in ​http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/awt/SplashScreen.html (startup option -splash: filename.gif or in the manifest as SplashScreen?-Image: filename.gif).

The Odin application no longer works. Its only purpose was to add MSVCRT.dll to Odin's system32 folder. A fresh install of Odin does not have it. Innotek's solution was to include it in everything that they published, in hopes that one of them would be on Libpath. Odin application did not work for them either. Suggest that you copy Innotek's solution.

Portscan 1.0 found on Hobbes as psjava10.zip won't start. The VM complains that there are extra bytes at the end of the class file. Works with all prior Javas. They must ignore the extra bytes.

I copied GS fonts folder from GStool folder to the Java 1.6 \lib folder and solved Multivalent problem. Suggest, if license permits, using Ghostscript's fonts instead of whatever you've suggested previously. BTW, Multivalent is found on sourceforge.net.
