Create a "tabbed" user interface to view multiple documents (like we have it in recent web browsers).

Currently, we programmatically disable saving the viewed document under the same name (see #178 for details). We should make it possible one day. An universal method that should work for all plugins (no matter if they internally support it or not) is to:

• Save to a temporary file in the same target directory.
• Close the current document.
• Delete the original file.
• Rename the temporary file to the original name.
• Reopen the original file.

Please can we have a "two-up" page view side by side in addition to the Continuous and Single Page Views currently available?

Presently, Lucide has no facility for annotating PDFs (it is a viewer only, or can Save-As). Marking this core, as I do not believe that other formats have this capability, either.

Received a series of PDFs v1.3

Lucide does not render them to screen or print them, but simply shows an underline for about 4 character positions.

However, Ghostscript and GSView can read them and print them. Two files attached for inspection.

Trying to print to Lexmark Optra s1625. A print job is visible in the spooler for a very very short time and the printer will run a warm-up cycle, but no pages print. The only other available printer is postscript. When Lucide prints to a postscript printer the actual postrcipt control file commands (rather than the file) are printed.

It would be nice, if a user opens the context-menu of a PDF-file and clicks print than Lucide would send the document to the selected printer. OOorgWPS has this feature.

I downloaded and filled out USA form W-9. Lucide easily filled out the form, and I saved it. Lucide can re-open the form, and the filled out values are correct.

If I go to Mac or Windows and open the filled out form with Acrobat, all the fields are blank.

Any application is able to print on my laser printer except LUCIDE 1.3.4. and predessor. Transfer of output from Lucide to printpool works. Ready light on printer is ON. After transfer of output to printer the ready light goes OFF and error light is blinking.

When I hit the start button in this situation the printer lights are switching back and the printer prints the output without any problems. I can expirience this behaviour on any of my PCs and printers.

When you hit the open file button and select certain PDF files, Lucide refuses to open them and displays the error : Cant find suitable plugin for specified document! If I browse to my PDF directory and double click the same file, it opens without any errors.

When installing from the WPI package, the install looked for gcc446.dll only on my Drive C (not found with an elaborate path).

I already have it installed on my Drive D in D:\extradll but now I have gcc446.dll installed on two drives.

It would be more graceful for the wpi install script to ask for (and accept) an alternative location for gcc.dll.

With an epson C88+ printer, printing appears to run normally, but no output to printer.

This was a CA tax form filled out by Lucide (thanks for fill-in support!!!)

Innotek Acrobat 5 printed the filled out form. I noted that Lucide processed the form for a short time while attempting to print. Acrobat processed for a much longer time before printing.

There is no way to keep different copies of Lucide pointing at different directories of files. This makes browsing multiple sources more awkward than it should be.

Example:

1. Start Lucide.
2. File | Open
3. Browse to C:\docs\current\pdf
4. Open a file.
5. Shift-PgDn? moves to next file, etc. in that directory.
6. Start second instance of Lucide.
7. File | Open in second instance.

FOC starts at last directory from the first instance, e.g., C:\docs\current\pdf.

8. Browse to J:\pdf\docs\current
9. Open a file.
10. Switch to first instance.
11. File | Open in first instance.

FOC starts at last directory from the second instance, e.g., J:\pdf\docs\current.

Instances should be independent (or not, based on user preference).

Marking defect as I consider current behavior to be non-standard.

This is a related issue to Ticket #111. All versions of Lucide, including the newest v. 1.20, will only print from the manual feed tray on my HP LaserJet? 5MP(Postscript driver), even though the printer is configured to take paper from Tray 2 (paper cassette). Lucide is the ONLY program that does this, all others print correctly.

Sometimes Lucide crashes when I use the "file open"-window and browse through the list of files. I think it has something to do with the preview displayed on the right side and only happens when I browse very fast (with arrow keys).

Is planner a mozzilla pluging for substitution of Acrobat 4.05

Shift-PgDn? works as expected with all document types I've tested, except JPG, where the same image is simply reloaded. Shift-PgUp? *does* work, however, even on these files. (1.3.4b2)

I'm marking this as core, but it's liable to be in the JPG plugin; I don't know the code to make that determination.

PS - Need to add 1.3.4 beta releases to the Version dropdown in Trac.

Lucide itself (without document) is very slow. It takes about half a minute to display the About screen with the CPU-meter going to 99.9 %. To display a document takes about 1/2 - 1 min pr. page with CPU util. = 99.9%. If I want to print a document of more then one page I have to select one and one page and print them. It takes 1/2 - 1 min pr. page with 99.9 % CPU utilization If I try to print all pages together only the first page will print. The rest will be blank pages. When I open a new document Lucide sometimes displays a message saying something like: Wait while I am creating thumbnails.

This is very strange. I enter data into a form and do a "save as" and it saves it fine. Next I reopen the form and make some changes in the form data and do another "save as" and the saved file does not have the changes. It is like it keeps the original in memory and only saves that, but the changes somehow don't make it into that original in memory to be saved.

Also, after doing a "save as" of an updated form as mentioned above, when Lucide is closed it comes up with a message that the document has changed, do you want to save it. If a yes response is given the results are as above, i.e. the changes are not saved so in essence the opened form is saved again with none of the data changes.

Trying to start gives this error: Error Loading Lucide.dll:Can't find module STDCPP (SYS0002).

When viewing a PDF with significant graphics the scrolling/paging is quite slow in comparision with Innotek Acorbat 5.1 Beta. The difference is in the order of 4 - 5 times in some cases. Text only scrolling is very nice, it is only the graphics that brings it to its knees. This is seen when using the mouse or keyboard.

Hi, starting lucide 1.3.4 beta2 leads to the error message: error loading lucide.dll:can't find module 'stdcpp' (sys0002)

The announcement on VOICENEWS states that Lucide 1.3.4 beta2 needs libc-0.6.3-csd3, but:

[e:\programs\lucide]Lucide.exe SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified. "LIBC064"

I suggest not to clear the whole window background before repainting. Especially resizing the window while viewing a JPG looks very ugly. Also, the toolbar should not flicker, while the window is resized.

Another suggestion: replace the tree expand/collaps icons/bitmaps in the container by user defined ones and force them not to be streched. Hint: Pronews has nice ones that fit the font size used.

Scenario:

1. Open an fullscreen session
2. Open a PDF using open.cmd - the PDF is opened by Lucide on the desktop
3. Switch to the desktop - the PDF seems to be only blank pages, however while the PDF is not displayed, it still can be printed normally.

Life would be a lot easier if all the languages inside the warpin package would be in a separate language package ( not a separate file ) this way you can select the language you want to install.

this will prevent a dutch user interface on a English system with a dutch locale.

also this would be very convenient for eComstation install.

Given the printing problems from Firefox 3+ it would be usefull to be able to invoke lucide thus:

lucide --print some-file.pdf --printer foo

Whereby lucide never becomes visible and just dumps the file to the given printer. It is easy to catch the pdf hitting the desktop with the XWP hook, but one then has to select print and close from within lucide. Further, because lucide is a PM app the window running the hook script also becomes visible on lucide closing and has to be minimised - again. :-(

When I look at ecs-ga-pdf-a5.pdf (199,896 bytes) the characters in the title on the first page are run together and unreadable.

I am running Lucide 1.21 from the Betazone. The Milestone and Version numbers associated with this post do NOT apply, but they are the latest that I can select. Perhaps an update to the Lucide project data in Trac is in order.

Every time a pdf is saved, Lucide (since ver GA?) adds "Desktop" before file name and "Copy" afterwords. I find it very unnecessary and this is something I have to change every time. Why? Is this due to some copyright-laws or..?

Can we please get rid of this function or optionally turn it off?

The print quality of Lucide is much worse compared with other applications. I have attached a scanned printout from OpenOffice?, Acrobat 3.0 and Lucide 1.3.2

There should be a REXX interface for Lucide, this would make it possible to script certain tasks, one could even think to manipulate PDF documents or similar like this.

We have to define first how this could be done and what would make sense.

[ eComStation Developer Group ] I've just had a look at the source .lng file for Lucide translation.

It's short, it's plain text, it seems to be structured... but is NOT. It's easy to produce a translation for Lucide, but not so easy to produce a good one (perhaps some defects are inherited from NewView? here?). What's wrong?

BTW, this is not intended to be a pun against Eugene Romanenko, but a constructive criticism that may be used by developers pf NLV-enabled apps to make translators' lives easier.

-Resource strings are split into groups starting with 'MENU_', 'TBHINT_' and the like. This is good, but strings within groups are hardly sorted, so you can't relate them to each other adequately (as you would if they resembled menu nesting, group boxes, etc. item order).

For example, to choose adequate mnemonics for user menus it is most convenient to have them in nested lists, ordered so that items in the list match the order in which they appear on the user menu. This happens most of the time, except that menu subgroups are shuffled around, or perhaps you are translating 'document' menu items and you suddenly find a subgroup from 'view'...

-Strings from each group can be related to strings in other groups. An obvious example is items-toolbar hint pairs. While it is very sensible to group menu items, it makes a little less sense to group hints, except perhaps for length comparison.

Parhaps a good solution would be a 2-column table for each app element (such as the user menu or dialog boxes) ordered by item (first column), with item-hint couples in each row. Of course, I mean user-editable columns; obviously there should be column for IDs, etc...

The "new" plausibility / loading for DLL modules does not check the DIR / DLL via BEGINLIBPATH.

Lucide does not find the DLL s and display a Message "... (SYS002)"

I'd like to provide updated version of the lucide_cs_cz.lng and a new translation of the readme file to Czech.

if i open a couple of pdf from firefox and want to print, lucide prints the first 2 pdf right. but any following does not print all information. even closing all lucide and reopen just one, does not solve the problem. this is with lucide 1.2

Changing the default locale (System-Setup - Country Palette) does not change the UI-Language of Lucide. IMHO Lucide should detect at every startup the current locale and change the UI-language if possible. For example some WarpIN scripts (webDAV-Plugin, Amouse (?), SearchPlus?) do this via REXX. Maybe this is easy to implement.

The extended attribute LUCIDE_THUMBNAIL is not written correctly. According to "Control Program Guide and Reference" the data must be preceded by a type word (e.g. EAT_BINARY or a user defined one) and should be preceded by a length word (in fact I never saw an EA without the length). See section "Extended Attribute Data Type Conventions". The current structure of the EA will probably break some EA reading functions.

This can be seen with V1.20.

Please make the "Goto page" window more user-friendly. As default the page-number should be marked, so that the user can immediately start entering a page-number. For example: I press the hotkey (Ctrl+N in German version). I do not want to backspace the numbers or use the mouse to mark them. I immediately want to use my Num-Pad and enter a page-number.

Maybe an option or checkbox "Do not close window" could help browsing through a big document. After every "Enter" the number is by default marked. So the user can browse fast via entering page-numbers.

If possible, it was nice add a new plugin to Lucide for read comic book files (with mainly CBZ and CBR file extensions). The Gnome (Evince) and KDE (Okular) viewers equivalent to Lucide usually have this feature.

Comic book files are only ZIP (CBZ) or RAR (RAR) archives with a set of numbered image files (usually JPG) inside.

Perhaps p7zip (LGPL) can be used for extraction of contents of the archives.

AFAIK, the only comic viewer that perhaps can be ported to eComStation now is YACReader (​http://code.google.com/p/yacreader/).

The attached PDF has a BMPs embedded, of which the white parts (255/255/255) are printed slightly yellow (definitely not white).

Could a backward search be implemented? It would fit in the "Find dialog", similar to "Match case".

It is possible to toggle between "normal view" and "full screen" (via F11). But the menu doesn't reflect the actual state. If in "full screen" mode there should be a bullet in front of the menu (like "Show navigation pane" does).

Viewing a file in fullscreen mode makes the mouse disappear even if an other xPager (ePager)-Screen is activated.

Maybe an option "Do not hide mouse in fullcreen" could help.

First, thanks for great improvements with 1.30!

After upgrading from 1.21, Shift+PgUp/PgDn? doesn't work any longer for viewing next document in a folder.

Attached PDF (Source: ​http://www.umweltbank.de/formulare/default.html) can be filled and printed correctly. But saving creates a zero-byte file. Some other files from the source can be saved correctly.

In the document-information for example of a PDF-File are often usefull and long informations like the source of the document (bibliography). Please make it possible to copy these informations to clipboard (via Crtl+Ins or Contextmenu).

In fact, the fullscreen mode is meant as the presentation mode (this is why we remove the scroll bars and set the zoom level that shows the entire page at the maximum possible size).

It will be more clean to rename this mode to Presentation and rename the ambiguous Maximized View mode (F11) to Fullscreen instead. This also corresponds to the behavior of other applications such as Evince.

Copy a selected text to clipboard (Ctrl+Ins / Ctrl+C) is not possible in fullscreen-mode (Ctrl+L).
