The support for viewing SVG files would be also nice.

I know that with mozilla you can view SVG files, but if this is to be a universal viewer then... There are alot of clip arts and other stuff around in SVG and some open source software that can do with SVG also like InkScape?, Scribus can also use SVG files.

Package the required binaries with the Lucide package. Do not make users run around finding required packages just to save a few bytes of download.

If you need some wis routines to locate where to install the DLLs, let me know.

More keyboard accelerator keys would be helpful. Like CTRL-P for print and CTRL-Home for the beginning of the document and CTRL-End for the end of the document

When printing from Lucide it appears as if it adds extra margins all around the document. Acrobat for Windows has the option to turn off the resizing of documents so one can print the full page size. This is especially important when using PDF files to print documents for others to read.

I tried to change the margins that are there in the print dialog, but they will not go any smaller than the default. Just being able to set these where I wish would probably help solve the problem.

It would be useful if TAB and Ctrl-F6 switched between the left-hand navigation pane and the document pane.

If would also be useful if Lucide supported Ctrl-Home and Ctrl-End for navigating to the beginning and end of the document respectively.

Installed at my work place is a networked Xerox Phasor 8550. I am using the 8400P driver since we don't have a newer one. Outport Port is SLPR1. I could print to the printer with beta4 using Print type As image. But with RC1 and 1.0 the printer only spits out page after page of postscript.

Create a "tabbed" user interface to view multiple documents (like we have it in recent web browsers).

Lucide v1.0 (01-Feb-2007)on ecs v1.2 Filename with multiple dots, like 'anyname.today.pdf' is not seen in the file list and cannot be opened. Changing filename resolves this problem.

os/2 version 5.1.04/24/10 of Adobe Acrobat handles this with no problem; see ticket #86.

Without a duplex printer, a simple way to print double-sided documents is to print the even pages in the reverse order (for example 10 8 6 4 2) then put them back in the printer and print the odd pages in the normal order (for example 1 3 5 7 9). Without reverse order printing, in this example, page 2 will be on the bottom of the printed pages, page 1 will be printed on the back of page 10, etc.

GSView has this possibility of reverse-order printing, it would be very nice if Lucide had it too.

I installed the new Lucide 1.0 under eComStation 1.2R just fine on an IBM Thinkpad T40, T30, and T21 and it works great (in place of the Beta-4 version). But when I copied it over to my PC-500 (200 Mhz Pentium) XGA system running under Warp for e-Business, it blanks out the document display. I can see it first draw the top of the page (top down) and then re-displays the document portion of the session, but the second time around it is blank. This behavior happens on all documents of various kinds (redbooks, manuals, user guides, etc from many sources). The same documents work great on my laptops so I will stay with the new version on them, but I have had to revert back to Beta-4 on my PC-500 system.

To improve the usability of Lucide viewer it's necessary add new feature:

• when you press right mouse button, mouse cursor is changed to "small hand" and
• if you move mouse cursor the page is scrolled

advantages:

• no need to implement special mode "Scrolling"
• the second mouse button is used

The shortcut for rotating left is Ctrl+Shift++ and for rotating right Ctrl+Shift+-. Unfortunately only + and - on the keyboard number block work but not the ones from standard letter block.

I have found this in Lucide 1.01.

At the end of the WPI install of 1.01 over 1.0 it asked if I wanted to set Lucide as the default PDF viewer. I said yes. Now the default PDF viewer is the E.exe text editor and the .pdf files are called txt files. The context menu under "open as" has "Text editor" as the only entry.

I can print a document consisting of any number of pages, but if I want, lets say 3 copies of that document I always get just one. This have been a problem in all versions I've used. Now using version 1.20. [eCS 2.0RC2, lucide warpin-package]

This is a related issue to Ticket #111. All versions of Lucide, including the newest v. 1.20, will only print from the manual feed tray on my HP LaserJet? 5MP(Postscript driver), even though the printer is configured to take paper from Tray 2 (paper cassette). Lucide is the ONLY program that does this, all others print correctly.

Life would be a lot easier if all the languages inside the warpin package would be in a separate language package ( not a separate file ) this way you can select the language you want to install.

this will prevent a dutch user interface on a English system with a dutch locale.

also this would be very convenient for eComstation install.

Attempting to load 1 meg jpg's Lucide handles one or two, then reports out of memory. No version of Mozilla is running. I close and restart Lucide without any improvement. (Some of the jpg's are defective. Lucide displays the top and then says it can't go any farther, or maybe Lucide just shows a big, black blank.) A file which produced this result will be attached if an opportunity to attach it appears when I click "Submit ticket." The plugin is lujpeg.

I have a manual for a Sony tape drive in PDF format, but the "main document" consists only of the Table of Contents, the individual chapters and subsections being contained in separate files in subdirectories. The Acrobat Reader handles this just fine and even allows me to return to the TOC from an individual chapter or other subsection. Lucide 1.20 cannot find the "subdocuments" at all.

Add the possibility plugins to show a configuration dialog. This could be done by either adding a "Configure" button on the plugin list (simple) or creating a properties notebook, in which - besides Lucide core's own settings - plugins could insert pages for their own purpose (better but more complicated).

In the document-information for example of a PDF-File are often usefull and long informations like the source of the document (bibliography). Please make it possible to copy these informations to clipboard (via Crtl+Ins or Contextmenu).

DJVu-files could contain OCR-created text of the (picture-)document displayed. This text is created with the djvu-file (not possible with the OS/2-DJVU-Pack but online: ​http://djvu.org/any2djvu/). Some viewers can display (and search) the text.

Create a OCR-djvu-File, start it with javadjvu and look what I mean.

It would be great, if Lucide could display the text too.

Lucide should be able to read and display the outline-structure of a djvu-file (bookmarks). Now it only displays "Page 1" etc. in bookmarks-section.

Lucide fails to load the files

If rename to aa.djvu then it loads files OK

Version 1.21 shows italic font instead of normal font in some cases (1.20 worked correctly). Maybe this error is in conjunction with not-embedded fonts?!

In Lucide 1.2 if I have set the printer margins on the print dialog page and then go to Properties of the printer. I find the margins reset when I come back to the print dialog page.

When I look at ecs-ga-pdf-a5.pdf (199,896 bytes) the characters in the title on the first page are run together and unreadable.

I am running Lucide 1.21 from the Betazone. The Milestone and Version numbers associated with this post do NOT apply, but they are the latest that I can select. Perhaps an update to the Lucide project data in Trac is in order.

The rendering of some documents/pages is realy slow...

And there is no visual feedback that rendering is on the way. So you don't know if the page is empty or you still have to wait.

When opening a PDF on ECSRC7, lucide window flashes briefly and disappears. Cannot view PDF's.

I cannot edit pdf forms with Lucide.

This would greatly help printing journal articles downloaded from publishers' Web sites. Most journals have smaller pages than letter (or A4) size, and "fit to page" makes their small fonts more readable.

Viewing a file in fullscreen mode makes the mouse disappear even if an other xPager (ePager)-Screen is activated.

Maybe an option "Do not hide mouse in fullcreen" could help.

The attached PDF has a BMPs embedded, of which the white parts (255/255/255) are printed slightly yellow (definitely not white).

There are some spelling mistakes (e.g. Originalgöße instead of Originalgröße) and minor glitches in the german language-file.

In fact, the fullscreen mode is meant as the presentation mode (this is why we remove the scroll bars and set the zoom level that shows the entire page at the maximum possible size).

It will be more clean to rename this mode to Presentation and rename the ambiguous Maximized View mode (F11) to Fullscreen instead. This also corresponds to the behavior of other applications such as Evince.

Attached PDF (Source: ​http://www.umweltbank.de/formulare/default.html) can be filled and printed correctly. But saving creates a zero-byte file. Some other files from the source can be saved correctly.

Some PDF documents check the version of the reader and do not display if it is not what they require (with a notice to upgrade). Can Lucide report the most recent version? Even better if it would be user changable (to allow future 'upgrades'). I'll attach an example (a tax document).

In version 1.3.1 the package-IDs in "lucide_wpi.wis" are not updated. So WarpIn? still reports installed version 1.3.0.

Given the printing problems from Firefox 3+ it would be usefull to be able to invoke lucide thus:

lucide --print some-file.pdf --printer foo

Whereby lucide never becomes visible and just dumps the file to the given printer. It is easy to catch the pdf hitting the desktop with the XWP hook, but one then has to select print and close from within lucide. Further, because lucide is a PM app the window running the hook script also becomes visible on lucide closing and has to be minimised - again. :-(

The spanish translation of Lucide is outdated.

Added translations of the language file and the readme for the 1.3.2 version. Also the modified WarpIN script file.

Changing the default locale (System-Setup - Country Palette) does not change the UI-Language of Lucide. IMHO Lucide should detect at every startup the current locale and change the UI-language if possible. For example some WarpIN scripts (webDAV-Plugin, Amouse (?), SearchPlus?) do this via REXX. Maybe this is easy to implement.

Could a backward search be implemented? It would fit in the "Find dialog", similar to "Match case".

Please can we have a "two-up" page view side by side in addition to the Continuous and Single Page Views currently available?

I have a number of files from a commercial program that Lucide 1.3.2 GA will not open. I receive the error message "File Load error!"

When you load a big pdf in Lucide and you want to browse to a certain page with the go to option then Lucide will fail and exits. This happens also with the arrows in the bar.

Please make the "Goto page" window more user-friendly. As default the page-number should be marked, so that the user can immediately start entering a page-number. For example: I press the hotkey (Ctrl+N in German version). I do not want to backspace the numbers or use the mouse to mark them. I immediately want to use my Num-Pad and enter a page-number.

Maybe an option or checkbox "Do not close window" could help browsing through a big document. After every "Enter" the number is by default marked. So the user can browse fast via entering page-numbers.

I think we hould have a logo for this website (like "QT4 for OS/2" has).

If possible, it was nice add a new plugin to Lucide for read comic book files (with mainly CBZ and CBR file extensions). The Gnome (Evince) and KDE (Okular) viewers equivalent to Lucide usually have this feature.

Comic book files are only ZIP (CBZ) or RAR (RAR) archives with a set of numbered image files (usually JPG) inside.

Perhaps p7zip (LGPL) can be used for extraction of contents of the archives.

AFAIK, the only comic viewer that perhaps can be ported to eComStation now is YACReader (​http://code.google.com/p/yacreader/).
