Add the possibility plugins to show a configuration dialog. This could be done by either adding a "Configure" button on the plugin list (simple) or creating a properties notebook, in which - besides Lucide core's own settings - plugins could insert pages for their own purpose (better but more complicated).

I still find GSView and Ghostscript useful for creating pdfs, other than those created by OpenOffice? export or Mozilla.

Could Lucide handle a plugin to view .ps files? Would such a plugin be of value to others, or is the .ps intermediate file not worth having?

I opened Lucide, and wanted to look at a recently opened document. So I pressed the Alt+d key combination to open the "Document" drop down menu, and nothing happened. When I pressed Alt alone, the first menu item (Document) was highlighted, and I could press the down arrow key to see the drop down menu, and the right and left arrow keys to navigate the menu bar. Also, I could press Alt, then press any of the letters underlined on the menu bar (D,E,V,W,H), and behavior was correct (the drop down menu appeared).

Trying to print to Lexmark Optra s1625. A print job is visible in the spooler for a very very short time and the printer will run a warm-up cycle, but no pages print. The only other available printer is postscript. When Lucide prints to a postscript printer the actual postrcipt control file commands (rather than the file) are printed.

I downloaded and filled out USA form W-9. Lucide easily filled out the form, and I saved it. Lucide can re-open the form, and the filled out values are correct.

If I go to Mac or Windows and open the filled out form with Acrobat, all the fields are blank.

When a picture (like a screenshot) is embedded in a PDF, Lucide seems to apply a simple, pixel duplication-like upscaling algorithm, which results in ugly appearance and poor readability. Other PDF viewers use smooth scaling instead, which produces a much better visual result.

The uploaded pdf is a from the Swedish pass-port authority. Some new fancy version of pdf-document I guess, which I'm not able to open. Instead it produces a message:

DJVu-files could contain OCR-created text of the (picture-)document displayed. This text is created with the djvu-file (not possible with the OS/2-DJVU-Pack but online: ​http://djvu.org/any2djvu/). Some viewers can display (and search) the text.

It would be great, if Lucide could display the text too.

Every time a pdf is saved, Lucide (since ver GA?) adds "Desktop" before file name and "Copy" afterwords. I find it very unnecessary and this is something I have to change every time. Why? Is this due to some copyright-laws or..?

Can we please get rid of this function or optionally turn it off?

The print quality of Lucide is much worse compared with other applications. I have attached a scanned printout from OpenOffice?, Acrobat 3.0 and Lucide 1.3.2

Often - but not always - the "Find" function would simply jump to the end of the document even though the search text is present. This seems to happen only in "Continuous" mode (which I normally prefer).

If possible, it was nice add a new plugin to Lucide for read comic book files (with mainly CBZ and CBR file extensions). The Gnome (Evince) and KDE (Okular) viewers equivalent to Lucide usually have this feature.

Comic book files are only ZIP (CBZ) or RAR (RAR) archives with a set of numbered image files (usually JPG) inside.

Perhaps p7zip (LGPL) can be used for extraction of contents of the archives.

AFAIK, the only comic viewer that perhaps can be ported to eComStation now is YACReader (​http://code.google.com/p/yacreader/).

Viewing a file in fullscreen mode makes the mouse disappear even if an other xPager (ePager)-Screen is activated.

Maybe an option "Do not hide mouse in fullcreen" could help.

There are PDF documents with comments in it, those don't work with Acrobat on OS/2 so far. Lucide does obviously support it somehow, at least I can see some nice flags in the document but the comment itself are not shown.

The open file dialog finds all pdf files in directory except those that have more than one dot in the file name.

This *might* be an OS/2 limitation on the open file box though. I am not certain.

PMView offers a feature that lets you load the next file of a supported file format that resides in the same directory as the currently loaded file. By pressing the plus and minus keys, you can subsequently step through all images in a directory. Very useful for, e.g., viewing digital photographs. Such a feature would greatly enhance Lucide's usability.

I have updated the German language file for Lucide 1.01. It is attached.

While I dislike the idea of MDI, I would vote for a "tabbed" interface to allow multiple documents to be opened at the same time. The "Find" function should have an option to search all tabs.

A pdf file I just fetched opens with a block layer of instructions over part of the first page. I do not understand how to hide that block for viewing, or when printing. For comparison with eCS, I have the same problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.x

I have problem with the Symbol font used by Coplot (a Java drawing prog) in its PDF files (an example is attached). These PDFs render just fine with Gview/Gscript?, but in Lucide all characters from Symbol look blocky and pixellated. The rendering of Symbol characters produced from (eg) Latex seem OK

More keyboard accelerator keys would be helpful. Like CTRL-P for print and CTRL-Home for the beginning of the document and CTRL-End for the end of the document

It would be useful if TAB and Ctrl-F6 switched between the left-hand navigation pane and the document pane.

If would also be useful if Lucide supported Ctrl-Home and Ctrl-End for navigating to the beginning and end of the document respectively.

Hi, I have installed the latest Lucide (1.0 RC1). In the changelog it says "Writes into EA thumbnail of first page of document (for eSchemes Deluxe)". I am a registered eSchemes Deluxe user. BTW, I can't see any thumbnail of my PDFs. Inspecting the EAs I don't see any thumbnail being created. When is it created? I even tried to _save_ a copy of a PDF to see if it was creating the EAs in that case, but still no joy.

I just installed the beta 4. I tried to print a 35 page pdf. Both times I tried it got into the low teens on page count and the following SYS3175 occured. The print was very slow 4-5 minutes from starting the print till the crash. I can send the file if it would be helpful. I can get a trap dump if that would be helpful.

I have extracted and updated the WarpIN install file to provide for NLV support in the WarpIN and offer the user the option of making Lucide the default for PDF files. It does not quite work correctly in that it does not seem to be able to delete the entries for PMWP_ASSOC_FILTER and PMWP_ASSOC_TYPE in OS2.INI, and I cannot figure out why.

Will do some more testing and debugging.

Spin boxes for printing appear to allow reverse order but printing is still done in ascending page number sequence.

Suggest that spin box entries be honoured by Lucide so pages can be printed in descending order.

It would be handy if when operating in paged mode, pressing page down when already at the end of page moved forward to the next page. This would free up the +/- keys and is better suited for most laptops.

When ever I open a pdf-file with lucide beta 3 I get the german message "Fortschritt - öffne Dokument, bitte warten" (Open document please wait...) for some seconds and then lucide exits and closes its main window. I get no error message... BTW: I have no problem with loading jpg-files in lucide beta 3.

My system eCS 1.2 english with CODEPAGE=850,437 and COUNTRY=049.

What further information do you need?

Early implementation of the File Save/Save? As function would greatly enhance the usability of the program as a Helper App for Mozilla.

Since DialogEnhancer? this 'style' is removed from all eComStation dialogs. Please remove the colons from the labels. There is no need for.

Vertical and horizontal scroll bars do nothing.
The Up/Down/Left/Right? arrow keys do nothing either.
You would expect to be able to scroll round a document this way, but apparently not. This makes it impossible to see the bottom of any standard A4 size page for example, if you are in "Fit Width" mode. The more you are zoomed in, the worse the problem becomes.

In the german version the menu 'Fenster' shows the some accelerator (F11) for topic 'Maximized view' and 'Vollbild' Maximized view still has to be translated.

Sine one of the primary uses of Lucide is to read PDF files, wouldn't it be better to include *.PDF in the list of files displayed when one selects document open ?

In the about dialog, it is possible to jump with the tab key to the text field.

The body text of some PDFs is not displayed, or is displayed white-on-white. Text that has a different color (non-black), is bolded or underlined, is displayed. There is space for the text as though it were meant to have something there.

I can provide a sample file on request.

First of all my congratulations to the very good idea of a generic document viewer. It looks really promising. For developers the plugin API needs to be documented but I guess this is planned already.

I just had a quick look at the plugin sources of the PDF reader because it takes quite long to open a PDF file with many pages.

The Plug-in API seems to support only loading a file as a whole with all pages. This might not be possible for large documents (e.g. big multipage images or complex PDFs) due to system memory constraints. Also it forces the user to wait unecessarily long time and finally the user might not even want to have a look at all pages of the document.

As a workaround plugins could defer loading pages to view during rendering but this is obviously not intended as there is no way to report read errors.

I'd suggest to either enhance the loadFile function or introduce some kind of page switching function with a return code that allows plugins to load a document page on demand. This might be also helpful for supporting document streaming from an URL if this is planned sometime. If memory gets low, the plugin could drop pages from memory if not needed to reduce memory footprint.

When you double click the Lucide icon, or open a PDF document that is associated with Lucide, you can close Lucide with the keyboard by pressing ALT-F4. But this only works if you have not transfered focus inside Lucide to the document area. If the document area has the focus, you have to press CTRL-X to close Lucide (ALT-F4 will not work). If the menu or the navigation pane have the focus, you can also use ALT-F4 (and CTRL-X will also work).

I do not vote for one or the other keyboard shortcut, I just would like to have it consistent. (well, actually, I would like ALT-F4 to work in Lucide from everywhere ;-) )

It seems that the fontscache is initialized each time Lucide is invoked. This also overwrites the fontscache that may have been generated by other programs like The Gimp installer.

This is bad for two reasons:

1) performance (!) 2) Lucide drops fonts that The Gimp did add (for example from other fontdirectories)

This has been reproduced on two systems.

At present, there is no differentiation between the white document page and the white document window background. If the document window background could be changed to gray, the boundaries of the document would be clearly visible.

I have just started trying the Lucide Beta version 1. Opened a few Jpg files no problem, however when I tried to open the file foresterx.pdf - a brochure on the subaru car, the program hung. I was however able to cancel the program via the task list. As I cannot attach this file here - you should be able to download similar files to it (that have the same problem) to test from the following web address:

The application should preserve settings like "Single page vs. Continous" or view sizes (especially "Actual size, Fit page, Fit width") over program restarts. Also the size should not be reset "Actual size", when opening a new file.
