Manual for overlaying folder icons ---------------------------------- 0. Requirements: - Scribus - PM View - Icon Editor of eComStation - folder icons in RGB color resolution (eCS folder icons apply to that) 1. modify and store the small icons of the application icon in RGB bitmaps - in the Icon Editor,fill the screen area to black, or a a color very near to black, like 0,0,0 or 1,1,1 or 0,0,1 This color may not be used in the image part ! - note down the RGB values of that special color - copy&paste into a PMView window of the appropriate dimension - save as PNG in RGB (!!!), set Option "Write Transparency chunk", set values of the background color - app.ico -> x16.png - app.ico -> x20.png - for the overlay icons of the 16and 20 pel folder icon bitmaps, scale these down to 8 and 10 pels and store them as - x16.png -> x8.png - x20.png -> x10.png 2. get folder.ico and folder2.ico either from - pmwp.dll - folder properties, pages 1 and 2 of "Icons", edit and store icon 3. store the big icons of the folder icons in RGB PNG bitmaps NOTE: make sure to use fill the "screen area" with a unique color which is not used within the bitmap (like like light blue or pink) HINT: open a new PM window in one of the dimensions, and copy&paste from the icon editor and save both icons of that dimension - folder.ico, 16x16 -> 16_1.bmp - folder.ico, 20x20 -> 20_1.bmp - folder.ico, 32x32 -> 32_1.bmp - folder.ico, 40x40 -> 40_1.bmp - folder2.ico, 16x16 -> 16_2.bmp - folder2.ico, 20x20 -> 20_2.bmp - folder2.ico, 32x32 -> 32_2.bmp - folder2.ico, 40x40 -> 40_2.bmp 4. Overlay Icons in Scribus - open a new Scribus document - disable "View - Show Frames" "Ansicht - Rahmen anzeigen" - perform the following steps for icon bitmap overlay bitmap =========== ============== - 32_1.bmp x16.png - 32_2.bmp x16.png - 40_1.bmp - 40_2.bmp - create a graphic object of the icon bitmap - create a second grahipc object of the overlay bitmap - place the small bitmap in the lower corner of the large bitmap - to add some more animation, for the 32_1.png and 40_1.png, move the small bitmap two pels to the right and one pel up (use up and right arrow key for that when the small bitmap is selected) - take a screenshot of the document with PMView For each icon: - copy the icon - paste it into the icon editor, into the repsective bitmap - replace the background color with the "screen" color, to make it transparent again.
