Text Size sets the system-default size for text used in folders, notebooks, menus, titlebars, and most dialogs. It uses the standard Warp4 typefaces, WarpSans and System Proportional, so the look of your Desktop remains the same. Changes take effect during shutdown and can be undone at any time before then.

Options

Sizes menu
Most users will see a menu with 5 choices: Standard / Small / Medium / Large / X-Large. Standard is the eCS/AOS default setting. The others represent sizes that are appropriate for the current resolution. The actual point size each represents is displayed when it is selected.
The menu for low resolution displays (less than 1024x768) is limited to 2 sizes, Standard and Medium, because larger font sizes are not available.
Test button
To see what any of the sizes will look like, press Test. The notebook will resize itself and redisplay all text (titlebar, tabs, menu, dialog text, etc.) in its new size. To end Test mode, press End Test or close the notebook.
Note: while in Test mode, the notebook is locked and the page cannot be changed. To go to another page, press End Test first.
Change Size button
Pressing Change size sets a flag for XWP's Shutdown process - it makes no other changes. You can Undo this action any time before you shutdown. If the flag is set, at shutdown XWP will:
- update os2.ini->PM_SystemFonts to change their sizes
- validate DPI-related os2.ini->panorama entries
- reset Desktop and root directories to use the default fonts
- reset WPS notebooks to use the default fonts
Note: if you use SNAP/Scitech Graphics, please remove any SET SDDFONTSIZE= or SET SDDFONTDPI= entries from 'config.sys' before rebooting to ensure expected results.

Additional Information

Missing/Disabled Sizes
The Text Size feature depends on Alex Taylor's extended-size versions of the WarpSans and System Proportional fonts. They are included with XWorkplace and should have been installed. If not, reopen the XWorkplace WPI and install the package labelled "Text Size support". It will only replace an existing font file if the new file is bigger.
Note: the included version of WarpSans supports up to 18pt; System Proportional supports up to 18pt Non-ISO. The largest sizes are not used for lower resolutions; they will not be reported as missing if they aren't needed.
Small Font Alert
The first time you display the Text Size page it will display an alert if it finds your system is using 96dpi fonts when the current resolution would normally use 120dpi fonts. You can choose to stay at 96dpi or switch to 120dpi. If you choose to switch, your system will be reset to 120dpi Standard when you reboot. You will be unable to use Test mode before then. This action can be undone at any time before restart.
