:p.This software is a task switcher application for OS&slash.2 and eCS&comma.
which includes an enhanced replacement for the standard Alt&endash.Tab switcher
and a feature&endash.rich task bar&per. The program is implemented as both a
standalone application and as a widget for XWorkplace WPS enhancer by Ulrich
M&oe.ller&per. Functionalities of both incarnations of the program are very
similar&per.

Installation
:p.The standalone application and the widget cannot be used at the same time&per.
Remove the widget from XCenter widgets directory before running
LSWITCH&per.EXE&per.
:p.Run LSWITCH&per.EXE from an OS&slash.2 command shell or file folder or place
it in the startup folder for automatic start at boot time&per. The &slash.I
command line option can be used to specify program settings file&comma. see
below&asterisk.&per. To enable support for DOS full screen sessions run
LSWITCHd&per.EXE in each such session or place it in AUTOEXEC&per.BAT&per.
Resource file LSWRES&asterisk.&per.DLL&sup2. must be in the
directory where the program executable is&per. LSWHOOK&per.DLL must be in the
program directory or in a directory specified in LIBPATH statement of
CONFIG&per.SYS&per.
:p.To use the lSwitcher widget place LSWIDGET&per.DLL&comma. LSWITCH&per.HLP and the
resource DLL LSWRES&asterisk.&per.DLL&sup2. in the
PLUGINS&bsl.XCENTER subdirectory of the XWorkplace installation&per.
LSWHOOK&per.DLL in this case needs to be in a directory specified in LIBPATH
statement of CONFIG&per.SYS&per. After restarting XCenter&comma. lSwitcher
widget will show up in the list of available widgets&per. 
:p.To be able to use the Alt&endash.Tab switcher capability of the widget in DOS
full&endash.screen sessions you will need to run LSWITCHD&per.EXE in each DOS
full&endash.screen session&per. Any errors which the widget may encounter during
its initialization are reported in XWPLOG&per.LOG file which resides in the root
or VAR&bsl.LOG directory of your boot drive&per.
:p.&asterisk.The settings are saved in the OS2&per.INI or&comma. if the
&slash.I&lt.inifilename&gt. is added to the program command line&comma. in the
file specified by the &lt.inifilename&gt.&per. This file is created in the same
directory as the program executable&per. Widget settings are always saved in the
file LSWITCH&per.INI&comma. which is created in the XCenter widgets
directory&per.
:p.&sup2.Only the English resources have been tested&per. In
version 2&per.71 the English dialog was extensively reworked I have made the
same syntax changes to the other national language dialogs&per. Since some items
were added to the string table&comma. they will appear in English as I have zero
language skills&per. If anyone is interested in updating the translations I will
be happy to include them in future updates&per. They should be base on the
English dialogs and menus&per. in the resource directory on netlabs or can be
obtained directly from&per.us&per. The new help file also needs translation&per.

Popup Window
:p.To activate lSwitcher popup window use Alt&endash.Tab &lpar.or

pressing the Tab key&per. Browse backwards by holding down the Shift key at the
same time&per. You can also browse through the list using the arrow keys&per. To

selection and return to the original window&comma. press Spacebar before
releasing the Alt &lpar.Ctrl&rpar. key&per.
:p.You can also switch to a window by clicking left mouse button on its icon in
the lSwitcher&apos.s PM popup window&per. Clicking mouse button 2 on an icon
displays the popup menu with possible actions for the window corresponding to

if Ctrl&endash.Tab popup hotkey is active&rpar. is pressed&comma. releasing the

Taskbar
:p.By default after the program startup the task bar is shown at the bottom of
the screen&per. Settings of the task bar&comma. including mappings of mouse
buttons to particular task bar actions can be set in the program settings&per.
The task bar is resizeable and can accomodate several rows of buttons&per.
Text&comma. background colors&comma. and fonts for the task bar buttons can be
changed by drag and drop and separately for buttons corresponding to active
windows&comma. minimized&slash.hidden windows&comma. etc&per. To change the
color and font for the task name "bubble" hold the Shift key down while the
bubble is showing&comma. which will make the bubble stay on the screen even if
the mouse is not over a task bar button&per. Holding the Shift key&comma. drag
and drop colors and fonts onto the bubble window&per. Colors and fonts are saved
together with the :link reftype=hd refid='Program Settings'.program

Known Problems/Restrictions
:p.If you press Alt&endash.Tab &lpar.or Ctrl&endash.Tab if it is enabled&rpar.
in an FS session and then release the Alt &lpar.Ctrl&rpar. very quickly the
lSwitcher can sometimes get stuck in the popup state&per. Press and release the
Alt &lpar.Ctrl&rpar. key one more time to switch to the task you&apos.ve
chosen&per. 
:p.The program appears to be incompatible with the VShield TSR&comma. which is a
part of ViruScan for DOS by Network Associates Inc&per. If both lSwitch&per.exe
and VShield&per.exe are loaded in a DOS session&comma. this session may crash
after a while&per. The reason seems to be a bug in the VShield&apos.s INT08
handler&per. This is partially confirmed by the fact that VShield causes a crash
in combination with some other programs hooking this interrupt&per. I have not
found a reliable workaround for this problem so far&per.
:p.Hidden and minimized to viewer windows are always restored to the current
virtual desktop&per. This is an XPager feature&slash.limitation&per.
:p.This program uses several undocumented operating system features and may not
work properly in some system configurations&per. If you encounter such problems
please let us know&per.
:p.The buttons in the Xcenter widget may lose their icon when the first program
of a group is closed&per. This may happen when using icon view and group&per.
Closing and reopening Xcenter fixes the issue&per.
:p.Reduce Desktop fails if it has already been called by another program
