The Icon Size page provides a simplified way to set icon sizes for folders and XCenter. It does not replace existing methods for changing these settings - you can use either or both. This page only appears if you have the Dynamic Icons app installed.
Folders
These settings apply to folders opened in Icon view.
- Normal button
The system will display the standard-sized .ICO icons it has always used.
- Dynamic button
The system will display variable-sized .PNG icons provided by Dynamic Icons.
- Icon Size slider
Use the slider to vary the default Dynamic Icons size by +8 or -8 pixels.
The default produces an icon the same size a 40 pixel icon would be if your monitor were running at 1024x768. For example, at 1920x1080, the default is 56 pixels.
- Custom Icons checkbox
When unchecked, Dynamic Icons will convert an object's standard-sized icon to .PNG format and enlarge it as needed.
When checked, Dynamic Icons will display one of the .PNG icons stored in '\sys\icons\bigicons'.
Notes
- Changing icon size updates the Desktop immediately. Other folders update after a WPS restart. Switching to/from Custom Icons always requires a restart.
- Pressing either the Normal or Dynamic button ALWAYS causes every Desktop subfolder and every drive's root folder to be set to the current values during a WPS restart. This provides an easy way to reset your entire system to a consistent size without having to make any other changes.
- You can Undo your changes at any time before the next WPS restart. If you've already closed the Desktop Properties notebook, just reopen it and press Undo.
XCenter
XCenter does not support Dynamic Icons, so only standard .ICO icons are available.
- Small button
XCenter will use half-sized icons.
- Large button
XCenter will use a full-sized icon.
Notes
- Changing the icon size updates XCenter immediately.
