T61 almost working suspend/resume with ACPI319CR4

Reported by: madodel Owned by: David Azarewicz
Priority: major Milestone: Feedback pending
Component: ACPI PSD Version: 3.19
Keywords: Suspend Resume Cc: madodel

Description

I just tried the latest ACPI 3.19 from BetaZone? (ACPI319CR4.ZIP). T61 with Intel Mobile 965 Express Integrated Graphics Controller using Panorama driver.

Suspend works and resume now works except that the wireless (Intel 3945ABG) won't connect on resume (XwLAN just shows the searching icon). I have to reboot to get my network connection back. Also now it requires pressing the power button to resume. But this is definite progress.

Minor point also is that with this ACPI version the NEOWPS Temp widget now has a huge number (Celcius or Fahrenheit). Worked OK before.

I posted this in the GenMac? forum as requested, asking if anyone had a working wireless card supported by GenMac? that would survive a suspend/resume. No one has said they have so far. Just that GenMac? hasn't been updated in 3 years. Do you know of any wireless PCI-e cards that work under eCS and also work with ACPI suspend/resume? Is anyone working on a new wireless network driver for eCS that will have this support?

Please download experimental ACPI build from Mensys site:

acpi319PollingFullOnly.zip

comment:6 Changed 13 years ago by madodel

Installed acpi319PollingFullOnly.zip. NEOWPS ReactorT.dll widget working again. Thanks for fixing that. The Beerbat.dll was actually 3 months older then the one I had from the eCS 2.0GA, but it is working. T61 still suspends and resumes but as before xWLAN just shows searching after resume. Are there any logs that you want?

Search. Mean search and find or search forever?

Search forever. I have to reboot to get back my wireless network connection.

Do you try use GenMac? utilities link.exe and ssid.exe?

Just tried that.

Scan before suspend shows:

00 SSID : "os2rocks4" 802.1x Ready : 0

After resume scan shows:

Dev-Name : WRND322$ Nif-Name : W8086X4227.NIF Lan-Number : lan1 Link-Status : 0x4001000c Link-Status-CHG : 619 Mac-Address (AP): E091F57C2599 "os2rocks4" P 0 Rssi -51 NetT 3 Channel 6 Infr 1 Rate B-1 B-2 B-5 B-11 18 24 36 54 Mac-Address (AP): 00226B7D3C5D "TONDT3" P 0 Rssi -79 NetT 3 Channel 11 Infr 1 Rate B-1 B-2 B-5 B-11 18 B-24 36 54 Media-Connect : DISCONNECTED LinkSpeed? : 54 MBit/s Infrastructure : 0x1 (INFRASTRUCTURE) Encryption : 0x1 (DISABLED) Authentication : 0x0 (OPEN)

SSID does nothing.

I recomemded next steps after wakeup:

  1. dis.exe
  1. link.exe (be sure , that this is not MS linker)
  1. ssid
  1. scan
  1. dhcprt

I can note. This steps must work before wakeup too

comment:12 Changed 13 years ago by madodel

OK just tried this without suspend/resume. dis.exe disconnects wireless but link.exe does not get it reconnected:

H:\ecs\SYSTEM\GenMac?\bin>link -dev "WRND322$" -verbose Link WRND322$ Device-Name : W8086X4227.NIF Lan-Number : lan1 Link-Status : 0x4001000c Link-Status-CHG : 3286 Media-Connect : DISCONNECTED LinkSpeed? : 54 MBit/s

I had tried this before with no luck, but I tried it again and no difference. What is weird is that if I scan for hotspots I see the routers, I just can't connect to anything. Also I get a repeating warning sound doing this so maybe there is some interaction with Uniaud. I have to reboot to get rid of the sound and connect to my wireless. I'm using the Uniaud from 09/22/2010 Is there a better Uniaud to try?

if you can see routers in hotspots - you netcard is wakeup right. So problem in WiFi? Widjet

Talked to Roderick yesterday and he thought the hotspot display may have been from stored memory.

Anyway updating Uniaud to the UniaudUpdate195-212.zip and now wifi finds the router and I can access the network. However if I suspend a second time the screen goes black but the moon indicator doesn't light and I can't resume. I have to reboot. So it only works the first time. Should I submit a new bug report?

I attached the logs from Suspend/Resume? using Panorama. Same problem using SNAP. Second suspend never happens (moon indicator never lights), just a black screen, but CADx2 reboots so it is not locked up. I tried VGA but that never goes into Suspend at all. Let me know what else you need.

Temporary solution is:

  • create startup.cmd at root of boot disk

Cool. I just put the T61 into Suspend and Resume 3 times successfully. Thanks for figuring this out. Now how do I add a Suspend menu item to the desktop context menu? I know it used to be there but I don't recall what utility added it.

You can find @ hobbes utility apm.exe, this utility can put to suspend from command line
