ACPI Not work on AMD 4600 X2 AM2 System (AMD 790X Chipset)

Reported by: guest Owned by: pasha
Priority: major Milestone: eCS 2.x
Component: ACPI.PSD Version: 3.06
Keywords: Cc:
Blocking: Blocked By:

Description

This system can be made to boot and run eCS 1.2MR OK after a bit of tweaking.

It will also work with APIC.PSD loaded but no /SMP switch.

Adding /SMP (with or without /R and /CD) causes machine to hang at boot logo. Attached is log file from COM port.

Using ACP 310012008.

Please let me know if you want me to carry out any further debug actions - grateful for your help! :)

Regards, Stephen

Just as an aside - BIOS on this machine reports MPS 1.4 support, but attempting to use PSD=OS2APIC causes trap in OS2KRNL when PMSHELL tries to load.

sorry. SMP on AMD chipset is not supported.

Is that final? I have the hardware available here for a few weeks to do some testing on?

Or can you recommend a recent and available chipset for AMD processors that ACPI SMP does work reliably on?
